LAUREL CANYON RESIDENCE

The challenge for this project was to transform a small 1920's house in the heavily wooded neighborhood of Laurel Canyon into a light filled modern house on a small lot with a steep hillside in the back. The solution was to create a  structure off the back that captured light with a 2 story glass wall that permeated the residence. All natural material were used and exposed - Wood and TGI framing used throughout with a minimal use of drywall. A stair with an open bridge to the bedrooms above opened the space below, again capturing the natural light to the living spaces, a precious commodity where the hills cut the sunlight as early as 3pm.
