arc RESIDENCE

The Arc Residence is a special project with in my hometown of Bellevue Wa, in collaboration with my great clients, Rob and Marie Dumas, we sought for a PNW house that embraces the natural materials and spirit of the Northwest, while challenging traditional form making, and creating a classic house that connects to the site and the view in a specific strategy. Special attention was paid to climate/energy use - heated floors are used on both the first and second levels, but no A/C was installed intentionally  -as a climate where A/C is typically only needed in July and August, we developed a passive cooling strategy where the concrete stair tower creates an air chimney that provides cool air in the summer, but reduces electric and overall energy footprint.
